How did you learn/hear about Core BTS and what made you decide to join?
I hadn’t heard of Core BTS when an executive recruiter reached out to me about the head of marketing role. I also wasn’t necessarily looking to leave my prior role at ConvergeOne but was open to learning about new opportunities at the time. What ultimately made me decide to join Core BTS are the leaders I met with. I understood where they were coming from, and we hit it off immediately. Given what they were trying to accomplish at the company, I genuinely felt like I could help and make a difference at a meaningful level. The culture is very entrepreneurial, which I love and thrive in, and I haven’t looked back since!
One thing I want NRI Tokyo to know about Core BTS and my team.
I would like to continue to advocate and educate around the value that I believe a solid marketing foundation and team has brought to the company. Being perceived as a strong player in the technology space is not easy in America because the competition is fierce. The key is finding unique ways to differentiate us from the rest, and we have been working hard over the last year to do just that. We have been amidst an ongoing process to rebrand the company so that we appear more competitive in this space. We want to look like the innovative and client outcome driven company that we believe we are.
We have also worked very hard to position marketing as a revenue-driver for the company. Adding and developing a strong demand generation and sales development function has helped us here, as well as having solid reporting to analyze and highlight the metrics tied to our activities.
What is it like to work with a Japanese company?
I really enjoying having the opportunity to work with a Japanese company. This is a new and exciting experience for me, and I am very much interested in learning about other cultures and how business is conducted in other countries, especially Japan. While it is a bit unfamiliar, I find it interesting and eye-opening all the same. Next, I would like the opportunity to visit in person and experience it for myself.
Outside of work, what do you enjoy doing?
When I am not working, I enjoy travelling (I love the beach and seeing new places), spending time with my family (I have 3 sons that keep me very busy!), and playing tennis (although I am also getting into pickleball).
The last trip I went on
It was not my very last trip, but it was definitely my most recent and memorable adventure. I went on a bucket list trip with 3 of my best friends to Paris. We saw and did almost everything imaginable…from visiting every museum we possibly could, to a champagne tour in Champagne, France, to biking in Versailles. It was magical and I want to go back very soon!
