Background

The terms of insurance and administrative content of mandatory vehicle liability insurance are determined according to the "Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance System." set forth by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and all insurance companies handling Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance offer insurance using the same terms. However, because non-life insurance companies have developed and applied their own individual systems, the standardization of administrative processes has become a common issue.

The "e-JIBAI" project was started in 2003 in partnership with multiple insurance companies with the aims of standardization and electronic conversion of Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance and mutual aid services. Standardization of the Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance and mutual aid service operations of various companies and organizations as well as the construction of a system for creating Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance System certificates, registering the certificates and placing them on host computers were promoted. This is how the e-JIBAI ASP system started.

Overview

e-JIBAI is an ASP system for insurance administration, management and claims settlement which adheres to the "Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance system.." It covers core business of non-life insurance companies.

Currently, insurance companies and organizations using e-JIBAI hold over 90% of the compulsory automobile liability insurance and mutual aid market share, making it the de facto industry standard service.
