Tokyo, February 17, 2025 – Nomura Research Institute, Ltd. (Headquarters: Tokyo, Japan; President & CEO Kaga Yanagisawa, “NRI”) has been selected as one of the top 1% companies in the "S&P The Sustainability Yearbook – 2025 Rankings", an ESG rating conducted by the global research and rating firm S&P Global. NRI is the first and only company in the "IT Services" industry to receive this highest-level recognition.
Each year, S&P Global assesses major global companies on three key sustainability aspects: economic, environmental, and social. Companies with particularly high ratings within 62 industry categories are selected and ranked in "Top 1%", "Top 5%", and "Top 10%" tiers. The results are published in The Sustainability Yearbook, an annual global benchmark for corporate sustainability.
For the 2025 rankings, a total of 7,690 major companies worldwide were evaluated. Among them, 780 companies with the highest scores in their respective industries were included in The Sustainability Yearbook. Within the "IT Services" industry, NRI was the only company selected in the Top 1% category.
For the second consecutive year, NRI has been highly rated in key areas such as "Information Security/Cybersecurity/System Availability," "Business Ethics," and "Climate Strategy." Additionally, NRI made significant advancements in "Human Capital Management," "Labor Practices," and "Risk & Crisis Management" in FY2024, further improving its overall evaluation. These achievements contributed to NRI’s selection as a Top 1% company.
Furthermore, NRI has also been included in S&P Global's ESG investment stock indices, the "Dow Jones Best-in-Class World Index" and the "Dow Jones Best-in-Class Asia Pacific Index1."
